| SHOES!!!!!!!!!!! |
[Saturday July 1st 2006 @ 11:58am] |
I saw my Choos in The Devil Wears Prada. It's the first mauve pair that Nigel handed to Andrea in The Closet!!! Heehee!
I got a 2nd pair of brand new Choos for a song! I was in a vintage store in Haight, was about to buy a scarf and then I saw my DREAM PAIR right behind the counter! I asked the cashier how much those Choos were and she said the price (my jaw dropped). I asked for the size... a size 6!!! Needless to say it totally made my morning.
To make it even better, it's my dream flat shoes! (Background story: I tried it on in the Sex and the City event's trading tent but this fat girl didn't wanna trade her flats for my heels. So i went home not 100% satisfied.) Now I have both! AINT LIFE SWEEEEEET!!!! The pair I got were also from the event, it's got the stamp on the sole. Someone probably couldn't sell her new shoes and decided to give it away to a vintage store. I think San Francisco has chocful of brand new Choos in places like Haight... hmmm....
But what i REALLY want are black Christian Louboutin pumps with that black/red stilletto heel. Or on the frugal side, the Lalo black patent pumps of Steve Madden.

Why is it, no matter how gasgas the soundtrack, that The Beach CD makes me yearn for eternal blissful Paradise?! Who hasn't quoted, "I still believe in paradise..." and all that Leo lines. UGH, it's so old but YES I TRULY NEED THAT PARADISE!!! I don't like being on the 880 freeway crawling through the traffic while listening to the entire CD! AAAAARGH! "its not where you go... Its how you feel for a moment in your life ... and if you find that moment... it lasts forever..." UH...YEAH RIGHT! I got work to do, bills to pay so it's SO NOT forever. I haven't been to any tropical place for over 2.5 years!
2.5 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY! I never realized how tropical my country is!!! Not until I left! If I go back home... WHEN I go back home... I will rough it up somewhere and live without electricity and eat organic food. heck, i'd pick fruits and hunt if i had to.

WE'RE MOVING OUT!!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!! Still on the waitlist.... I CAN'T DECIDE ON THE FURNITURES!!!! It's a cross (actually asterisk) of contemporary/shabby chic/baroque/glam/modern vintage/classy theme. I've been looking at Ikea, Pottery Barn and Urban Outfitters for DAYS... not to mention absorbing all magazines/ catalogs of home stuff. There's so much in my head and the only thing we've bought is a sleek black iron. Hahaha, whoopee!!! I'm so excited I can't even keep it from my 3 to 4-year-olds.

Holly Golightly: Listen...you know those days when you get the mean reds?
Paul Varjak/Fred: The mean reds? You mean like the blues?
Holly: No... the blues are because you're getting fat or because it's been raining too long. You're just sad, that's all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you're afraid and you don't know what you're afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?
Paul/Fred: Sure.

In my pubescent years i was raring to get to high school. Then high school was a blast, but i couldn't wait for college. And then college made me wanna work. And now im working and I'm thinking I can't wait for marriage. Before you know it I'm having my mid-life crisis. AAAAAAAACK!!!!
I always want to go forward and then end up missing the past!
I wanna go back to Bazooka Joes, Barbies and plastic balloons. When a soda was just 5 pesos and my workout was racing against the yucky boys. And I'd play chinese garter with my friends, making sure that I've got shorts under my school skirt to avoid exposing my undies! I'd get excited over a blank piece of paper and draw princesses and mermaids. When a blanket had endless possibilities for my pretend games. When food did not excite me so. Where oh where have those days gone?
Oh, I wish I met Pepel when i was 4. That would be fun... Fun-er!

I am blown away with Google Earth (http://earth.google.com/sites/), I felt like I'm a secret agent spying on my friends! The program is über high tech, when you key in a location you kind of take a GIANT leap on the face of Earth then as you zoom down to your location the names of the country/state/cities materialize.
Hmmm... so someone, something is taking our pictures up there.
Can you imagine creating this program?! You have to get rid of the clouds and delete every single person and keep the roads clear. I found out my house is the only one with a huge trampoline in the backyard and a couple of our neighbors have pools. It's like Mapquest 3D! The maximum zoom to the house was still pretty clear. The Philippines was fairly represented-- highways with the usual dull grey mess you see from the airplane's take-off or landing. All cities were properly labeled. It's CRAZY! I can even get a top view of Pel's place so I could see his place in Jersey. Paul's place is ritzy, Cabo looks heavenly, Machu Picchu... AAAAGGGGH, it's a teaser that beckons us to see the best things on our planet!

Yesterday my yoga instructor did a no-show. It's totally irritating how people think it's OK to brush off commitments. We were a big group, just waiting for that insensitive ass! I feel bad I missed a class, it felt like my saturday wasn't complete. To make things worse, I was just wearing slippers so I couldn't workout. I HAVE NOTHING TO BE THANKFUL FOR CARLOS!!! NAMASTE MY BUTT!!! hehe.
*peace peace peace peace*
So I decided to try Thai Kick Boxing today and it was a complete joke. First, I look stupid jabbing and shouting "UGH!". Second, the whole "girl power" vibe wasn't my thing (although the cd mix were AC Hardcourt songs!). Third, I felt sooo out of shape which made me feel bad... considering i just did a 2-mile jog & sprint the other day and felt to damn good. Fourth, because i felt stupid I was stopping myself from lauging out loud while trying to keep up, I couldn't help myself coz WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS I DOING?! Fifth, the instructor was a chubby lady with a lot of spunk but then i was thinking, why in the world is she still fat? ang sama ko ba?! oh well...
If I were good in some sort of self-defense, I'd pass off as some Tekken character with my hairdo... EEP!!!

| Poise under stress |
[Sunday October 16th 2005 @ 9:48am] |
I HATE paper cuts. Had one just the other day, it happened so fast that it took my skin cells a minute to realize what had just happened and then it opened up and bled. Paper cuts hurt like hell, just like ant bites and electrifying nerve bumps.
I also hate graceful accidents, the kind that is beautifully in slow-motion and you have the time to think about whats happening and ending with "oh shit" and then BOOM! A graceful booboo. I remember a friend of mine going down a car and her knees collapsed and she just slowly fell on her knees, with a poise that could have made Audrey Hepburn really proud. This happened right by a bar entrance, in front of one of our celeb crushes, who noticed the unfortunate incident. Even I died of embarrassment.
But holy shit, how I hate my paper cut.

Elizabethtown: "The best place to find yourself"
In my case, it's the Bay Area.
Yesterday I had the opportunity to see San Francisco from two new vantage points. One was a panoramic view of the city from ground level and the other was high on a hill overlooking the Bridge and neighboring islands. It really blew me away. The clear bluer-than-blue sky accented by the red Golden Gate Bridge and the sparkling turquoise water was a beauteous sight. Being the softie that I am, I just had to reflect on all the things that I've experienced away from home. Gone are the days of superficial tête-à-tête and hedonistic masquerades. Ha, I make it sound so bad. Ok, it was fun. But only to a certain point.
I love the things that I've experienced here. The responsibility, independence, discipline... it's a lot different from what I've learned at home. Sure, I've learned and practiced all those things while growing up under my dad's house. In fact, I've filled-in a role that was pretty big for a teenager. But to step out of my comfort zone and jump into a different world is a fresh change. It's also wonderful that I get to experience all these with kindred spirits, people who are also open to new experiences and filled with the same hopes and dreams of their future. I realize that I have found myself, and I am satisfied even though my adventure has just begun. As much as I miss my home and family, I love San Francisco. It's the best place in the world and I wouldn't mind staying here for good.
And I realize,
this is my home.

YES!!! "Free" and "Jimmy Choo" in one sentence!!! I AM STILL SO HIGH!!! I've tried on my shoes for the nth time already! It was an amazingly wonderful/crazy/exciting girl's bash ever!!!
I have NEVER ever felt so lucky with these kinds of things. First of all, they were just giving away a thousand pair of shoes. I wanted to be in the top 300 sooo bad! And guess what number i got?! Number 27!!!! My friends and i lined up on Union Square at midnight and we were ready with chairs, sleeping bags and fleece blankets! We totally camped! We had our food and stacks of magazines. Our bathroom was St. Francis Hotel so it wasn't bad at all. The wait was not bad because I was with the best girls ever. Time flies with great company. As expected, we've encountered mixed reaction from people who passed by. Who cares.
Men: "What again, For shoes?! Are they Nikes?" (quite a lot of em asked that) Women who cannot relate: "Whut the hell, for shoes?!" (the lady beside me replied, "Well your chunky old boots aren't hot!") And the nice ones: "Good luck girls! Go get those shoes! Get all dolled up!!!"
Some people wanted to buy our spots for $250. Are they serious?! HELL NO!
Around noon time the "general public" (a term for the ones without numbers, we were not considered "general public" anymore) were dying to get into the event. But they could only join the booths for trivia & prizes, make up counter, spa and auction. oooh... how i loved my spot!
OH MY GOD when the gates opened for us (this was by batch of 33 girls) we went into this tent and we were asked to be seated. The table had over a dozen beautiful shoes... stilleto heels, flats, pumps, strappy, icy jewelled and even long boots!!! sea foam green, mauve, pale pink, beige, tan, black, white, royal purple... I WANTED TO COMBUST!!! There was a battalion of shoe staff all dressed in baby pink tees, we had snotty looking waiters (in pink too) serving pink lemonade. The boss of the staff greeted us all and explained that the ladies waiting on us will get our sizes. And so after they all got our shoe sizes, the boss gave a go signal and MY GOLLY GEE WHIZ all the staff started rushing around getting our sizes, shouting for the certain shoe model, frantically giving out commands to each other... it was like the stock exchange, but not for money, for designer shoes. GOD DAMMIT I felt like a princess on a pedestal. The girl comes back to me and says, "This is Vanessa." And then she opens the box to reveal this mauve pointy pumps. GOODY GOODY GOSH!!!!
So many people outside of the event approached me and my friends to "take a peek" at the shoes we've received! Happy but tired, we ended our day with quite a big grin. We all hugged our boxes as we went home... after all, some psycho bitch might attack us, you'll never know...
